(considering that I'll only be using it for drawing) Cons : I don't know if I can afford this thing and if it's worth it to. So far the pros I have for Surface : Pen, you can launch SAI, SSD, uhhh that's it. What if it fails under half a year? Is it really worth it for 1000$? The pen pressure I mean. and I'm also afraid of whether the tablet will go failure. I'm currently pondering on the Surface and a few android tablets. so I think that not having pen pressure will not hamper your drawing ability. I used to draw a lot on the website and I'm quite used to the fact that it doesn't has any pen pressure(shading is only done by area picker, everything manually). I've owned a Graphire 4, an Intuos 3, a Bamboo and a Huion in the past but I never found the pen pressure that necessary. I've owned a N7 2012 in the past but haven't used it for drawing since I find the screen too small. If you're a beginner, go for the cheaper, smaller tablets and focus on features not brands, since you won't get your money's worth with the overpriced larger ones.Hello, I don't own a Surface yet, but I'm considering it since so many people recommend it over an android/iOS device because of the Wacom digitalizer. The tablet's great for drawing, digital painting, texturing 3D models or even modeling in ZBrush. I generally use less than 12x9" anyway because I don't like to draw very long lines. Mine has a whole top menu with cutomizable buttons and you can also change the area of the tablet you want to use at any time. The main features you'll use are the levels of pressure it detects (1024 was the best at the time and I draw lightly), pen tilting and how many buttons it has. I went down the list and one by one they were identical feature-wise.

It had the exact same features as the Intuos 3 12x9" tablet which was $650 plus tax when I made the purchase. and I bought a 12x9 inch tablet for under 200 dollars on eBay - brand new, in the box. Personally, I've been drawing pretty well since I was a kid, painted, I've been doing 2D/3D graphics for about 10 years, etc. Honestly, if you're not very good at drawing/painting or are new to 2D apps, don't even bother spending $400-700 on a tablet just because it says "WACOM" on it - it's a waste of money.įocus on what features each tablet has and get the cheapest one - just in case you won't use it that much.
